REECOL partners involved in the work package 5: ‘Short and long term monitoring of ecosystem rehabilitation’ met online to discuss the completed, current and future activities. Ideas for a research paper were also shared.

The automated spraying system designed in REECOL project to support land reclamation in post-mining areas was presented in a paper “Automated Spraying System for Post-Mining Land Reclamation –Structural Design and Functional Testing” published in Mining Machines.
The system is part of a non-contact remediation technology, for degraded soils, the development of which is one of the project’s key objectives.

The last periodic meeting in this year took place. Fruitful discussions and summings up took place.

On 4–5 November 2025, our team gathered in Szczyrk to take part in the KOMTECH Conference project session and to hold our progress meeting. Both in-person and online participants joined the discussions, covering completed tasks, ongoing work, and future activities within the project. After hard work, we deserved a reward. We had a trip to Guido Coal Mine, thus moving our focus from the “surface” to the “underground”.

At the KOMTECH conference organized by Instytut KOMAG in Szczyrk, REECOL objectives and results were presented during a dedicated session.

The project partners met to disscuss and make necessary final arrangements regarding the upcoming project progress meeting to be held in Szczyk, Poland, next week.

REECOL was presented to attendees at a workshop organized by VUHU Most in Dolní Vítkovice (the Lower Vítkovice Area), Ostrava, Czech Republic. The event brought together representatives from several European project partnerships to share knowledge and foster collaboration.The presentation was delivered by the project coordinator, Poltegor-Instytut.
The workshop complemented the kick-off meetings of the FRAM and MEMO projects.

REECOL was showcased at the Conference of PhD Students and Young Scientists (#CPSYS), by Makary Musiałek from our coordinating partner Poltegor-Instytut. The presentation titled “Continuation of Research on the Integrated Approach to Monitoring Post-Mining Land Reclamation – Selected Aspects of the REECOL Project” focused on the monitoring of rehabilitation at study plots in the Konin Lignite Basin (Poland).

At the 13th SUITMA Conference (Soils of Urban, Industrial, Traffic, Mining and Military Areas), BRGM delivered a presentation titled “Mine Soil Rehabilitation: Integrating Field-Based Approaches and Remote Sensing Tools.”

Results of research within REECOL have been presented in the monograph ‘Innovative Green Economy. Part 6. Climate and Biodiversity’, in the chapter ‘Reclamation of Post-Mining Areas in the Context of Adapting to Climate Change and Protecting Biodiversity‘.
